Living with Monsters (2024)

There are a lot of people out there creating absolutely incredible little films.

There problem is that very few of them appear to be in Hollywood these days.

Lost Utopia films is one of those fairly new YouTube channels which has put out a lot of interesting Godzilla footage. However, most of it has been in little bite-sized pieces, more interesting as curiosities than as anything more.

But Living with Monsters is far more than that: a faux-documentary about “super monsters” which gives us a few glimpses of an alternate world where Godzilla is real, and Carl Denham’s trip to Skull Island resulted in a film he called “King Kong.”

It’s all in a tired, grainy, worn out, school educational film black and white, and features some of the best footage of battling old school practical monsters I’ve seen in a long time.

I mean, seriously, someone needs to hire these guys for the next big Kaiju film. Or just give them enough money to make a feature-length film.

The catering budget from Godzilla v. Kong: The New Empire would probably be more than enough…

Mark Cole hates writing bios. Despite many efforts he has never written one he likes, perhaps because there are many other things he'd rather be writing. He writes from Warren, Pennsylvania, where he has managed to avoid writing about himself for both newspaper and magazine articles. His musings on Science Fiction have appeared in Clarkesworld and at IROSF.com, while his most recent story, "Finale" appeared in Daily Science Fiction.
